We’re all sharing group and private rooms, so the initial members will get to lay claim to their preferred schedules. After the initial roster and schedule are set, open spots in the schedule will be available to claim on a first-come, first-served basis.
I'll be the arbiter of the schedule, so anytime you have requests or need to make a change, I'll handle that.
I understand that everyone’s scheduling needs are unique and that life presents itself sometimes! I’ll always work with teachers to accommodate particular scheduling needs anytime we can.

How does it work if there's a teacher coming in right after or before me?
You'll rent a little padding time before and after each session -- a minimum of 30 minutes for the yoga group room, and 15 minutes for all the other rooms. NOTE: for the yoga group room, If there will be only 30 minutes between you and the teacher before or after you, you'll split that time -- no double charging for transition time!
This all seems really complicated. Why isn't there one set rate for members?
It's a lot of details and words and numbers, for sure! But there's a good reason: This space is meant to be a long-term home for dedicated practitioners, and the goal is for everyone to be super clear about how things work before they sign on. If reading through all these details is making your head hurt, let's talk it through instead!
Is there a minimum number of hours that I have to rent to be considered a member?
Not really! If you need the space for only one class or session a week, and the calendar is a fit, we are good to go! The only thing to keep in mind is that you'll need to rent a bit of "padding time" around your session; 30 minutes before and after for the group yoga room, and 15 minutes before and after for all other rooms.
Will I be able to book extra hours for workshops or other occasional events?
Yes! Once I have a sense of how many teachers we’ll have, and who wants to have options to offer workshops or other not-every-week hours (and when), I’ll figure out how we can create some saved space on the schedule to split up for workshops and such.
If I don't want to sign on as a member, can I still rent time in these rooms?
Yes! Non-members teachers are welcome to use the space for one-off events as the schedule allows. That pricing isn’t set yet, but the early estimate is $75 for two-and-a-half hours and $175 for five hours. Ish.
Will these unbelievably amazing hourly rates go up?
Until we can figure out how to escape capitalism altogether, you can expect rates to go up a little bitty bit every three or so years to cover increases in rent and utility or service costs. I’ll minimize as much as I can. These increases should be about 3 to 5 percent; if it's ever more than that, I'll spell out why, where, and how. No surprises.
Can members get financial aid?
I'm working on that. Right now I don't have an option for sliding-scale membership fees, but I hope to someday.
Oh, the math of it all:
Your monthly fee is calculated using each room’s hourly rate. The math goes like this:
Hours/week (each room) x hourly rate (each room) = weekly cost
Monthly fee = weekly cost x 52 weeks, divided by 12 months
If you choose a six-month agreement instead of a full year, you pay the monthly fee plus 12%.
Term length options:
I’m currently offering only six-month and annual coworking agreements. These agreements will be binding--there is no early release option. That's in part to keep things running, but it's also because I want to cultivate long-term relationships here, and I'm looking for teachers who value long-term relationships with their clients as well as their colleagues. Right? Right.
By joining Raleigh Unrushed, you're participating in a fairly new business model for our fields. We'll be figuring things out as we go along, so it's likely that we'll adjust course and amend our coworking agreement a few times. Here's what you really need to know:
The coworking agreement is a legally binding agreement, so you want to make sure you feel comfortable with everything in it before you sign.
If needed, we'll update the coworking agreement proabably every six months for the first two years, but any changes will be well highlighted and explained before you sign on for a new term, so there will be no surprises.
The agreement will include a code of ethical conduct, but not because your ethics are in question! If you have questions or concerns about the language in any part of the agreement, discussion and amending the agreement as necessary is always on the table.
The agreement will include a few house rules; these rules are meant to balance teacher freedom with space consistency. The goal is to minimize your unpaid labor in this space, but to also provide a consistent experience for all teachers -- so you'll always know what to expect in the space when you arrive to do your thing.
Ideas, comments, and adjustments that feel doable and fair to everyone are so, SO welcome. Don't be shy about sharing feedback -- there will be a way for members to offer feedback anonymously, as well.
When do I start paying?
You must pay first and month's rent and a security deposit in that same amount upon signing the coworking agreement.
Do I need particular certifications or insurance?
You must carry liability insurance for your field of practice, and you'll need to add Raleigh Unrushed and the building owner as coinsured (I'll give you that info).
You must maintain current CPR and AED certification.
What other forms and legal stuff and paperwork am I going to have to deal with?
That's it for you! But you must have your clients sign a waiver upon their first class or session at Raleigh Unrushed (we’ll make that part as easy and digital as possible).
Considerations before you take the leap
How sustainable is your current client base? While there's a lot of opportunity for cross-pollination, there's no shared client base for Raleigh Unrushed. Make sure your pricing and class size or client load will make sense for coworking here.
Do you need online registration and payment processing set up? Since you're running your own business, there's no shared registration for classes (at least not until Offering Tree builds us something!). How you register clients, what you charge, and how you collect payment is totally up to you! If you don't have online scheduling and payment processing, I can hook you up with a discount to Offering Tree. It's an option but absolutely not a requirement.
Are you currently enmeshed in a studio? We're looking to establish an ethical, well-regarded business. Scooping clients from local studios is not what we're about. That said, relationships with clients are nuanced and clients often follow teachers from studio to studio. Be aware of any non-compete clauses (however overreaching or non-enforcable they may be) in contracts you have with current studios. If you’ll be teaching at Raleigh Unrushed as well as local studios, think through how you’ll talk (or maybe not talk) about that in those studios.
How will you pitch this move to your clients? Anytime you ask clients to go with you to a new space, you're taking a chance and asking them to trust you. Consider your clients, their unique needs and preferences, and plan responses for any concerns they might raise. Reach out about this if you are concerned -- we can work on it together!
